Studio

KOHU Studio is an architecture and design practice founded in 2023 by Chloe Hudson and Christopher Kokarev, working between London and Helsinki.

The studio operates across scales and formats — from architectural and object design to large-scale drawings, film and visualisation. We work on competition schemes, research projects and built commissions, approaching each through close attention to craft, material and context. Projects grow through dialogue: with clients, collaborators and the specific conditions of each brief.

In parallel, Chloe and Chris lead Intermediate 9, a design studio on the Bachelor of Architecture programme at the Architectural Association, London. Teaching and research is central to the practice — it sharpens how we think, make and question.

Chloe Hudson

Chloe Hudson is a British architectural designer and educator , and co-founder of KOHU Studio. She studied at the Architectural Association, graduating with a Diploma with Commendation, and has worked with multiple acclaimed offices on cultural, residential and exhibition projects. Her thesis project was nominated for AA Honours and published by Koozarch and Pantopia.xyz. In 2021, her drawing A Second Shot, made for acclaimed office OMMX, was exhibited in the Belgian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. She leads Intermediate 9 on the Bachelor of Architecture programme at the AA with Chris. Her practice and teaching examine how architecture engages with temporality, memory and cultural inheritance.

Chris Kokarev

Chris Kokarev is a Finnish architectural designer, educator, and co-founder of KOHU Studio. He's experienced in various project types ranging from private residences to nightclubs, community centres, exhibitions, commercial properties and furniture design, with a focus on adaptive reuse and refurbishment of existing buildings. In the past he's worked with practices like Material Cultures, MOBO Works and Conrad Koslowsky Architects in London, as well as Futudesign and Neotri in Helsinki. His approach to design puts an emphasis on careful detailing, environmentally friendly materials and sustainable construction methods. Chris also leads Intermediate 9 on the Bachelor of Architecture programme at the AA with Chloe.
